Adoptive family age preference is between 30-45 years old, with occasional exceptions. Families with Chinese descent are preferred. Preference is given to childless couples. Adoptive families can have other children in the home (maximum of 3).

Taiwan Adoption Process
At present the adoption process is estimated to take between 4-18 months after dossier submission. The Taiwan adoption process is administered through the Children's Bureau, Ministry of Interior ROC and a system of private and State run orphanages.

Adopt Abroad, Inc. works with various orphanages & adoption placing agencies in Taiwan. The Taiwan adoption process is unique in that in some cases the birth mother may be involved in the selection of the adoptive family for her child. The Taiwanese children available for adoption may come from foster homes or a government run orphanages.

The adoptive family will complete their adoption dossier and send it to Adopt Abroad, Inc. We will then forward this to our Taiwan representative who will search for a child that matches the request of the adoptive family. In some cases the birth mother will select the adoptive family. The adoptive family will then receive information on their referred child. If the family accepts the referral, then the Taiwan representative will submit the dossier to court and obtain the adoption permit.

The family must travel to meet their child and the adoption is finalized in Taiwan. As with all international adoptions, if only one parent travels re-adoption in the U.S.A. is mandatory.

Once the family arrives in Taiwan you will be met by our local representative. The family will be escorted by an English speaking representative through the adoption process.
